WEREWOLF VENUE SHEET FOR HOUSE OF THE SILVER CRESCENT, ORANGE COUNTY, CA

Contact: Primary Storyteller-Mike Jackson - Palpatine@punkass.com

Place/Time: Games range through several different locations, such as University of California at Irvine, downtown City of Orange, and private venues in Orange County.

The practice of charging admission fees will be avoided (hasn't happened yet!) but may occasionally take effect, not to exceed $2. At a game that is a potluck, players will usually be charged $4-$5 if they don't bring a dish or other appropriate contribution.

THEME AND MOOD: "You sold us OUT, Clark. You GAVE them the power that should have been OURS. Just like your parents taught you. My parents taught me a different lesson--lying on the street, shaking in deep shock, DYING for NO REASON AT ALL--they showed me that the world only makes sense when you FORCE it to." --Batman, from "The Dark Knight Returns" by Frank Miller

Consider all the indignant anger of "Generation X" directed towards the "Baby Boom" generation--the feeling that their elders have, through selfishness and shortsightedness, bequeathed to their children a chewed-up and hopeless world of degredation, despair and filth. Now make that world into a World of Darkness, and magnify that anger to match a Werewolf's Rage...

The House of the Silver Crescent runs a dark comic book fashion of Werewolf that thinges on a dark past riddled with failure, a bleak present and an ominous future. Intrigue is important but PvP conflicts are intended to keep within the bounds of personality conflict. Unlike other White Wolf games, Werewolf provides its Player Characters with common goals and moral guidelines that don't easily condone infighting.

Players in HSC's Werewolf chronicle take the role of Gaia's younger protectors, fed up with the pointless conflicts of their elders blinded by history, politics and prejudice. Leaving behind ineffectual septs while bringing along plenty of personal baggage, they gather in Orange County to make their stand for Mother Earth. Some will cling to hope in the face of certain doom. Others, like the Vikings of old, may be satisfied that they go down fighting.

Orange County has NO CAERN as yet. The quest to establish a caern--SOMEHOW--is an overriding goal... Costuming is encouraged, but discretion advised. A well-thought-out personae will be far more useful than an intricate costume. The game is very urbane, and if that tail leaps out of your pants, the neighbors will talk...

HOUSE RULES
There will be soft-caps on certain breeds and tribes. Red Talons are not appropriate for the area, though one player has already succeeded in justifying a Red Talon PC, so this is not set in stone. Players should not play Lupus or Metis characters without a firm understanding of Garou culture. Territorial issues may likely arise with Garou from other chapters/domains. The activities of the local Garou are not announced like a Toreador Ball; therefore, while players from HSC are certainly welcome, their characters' presences will need to be discussed with the Storyteller.

Each game is meant to lead in from the last, with games for the immediate future splitting between establishing a caern and doing the regular Werewolf duties (hunting down Wyrm stuff, picking on housecats, etc). Moots will feature considerably less action and mystery and drive mainly toward character developments. As Garou organize in packs, consistency of character presence is key.
The game is directed toward providing strong motivation to action, encouraging the Garou to live up to their obligations and creating among them a bastion of hope for Gaia. Primary antagonists include Fomori and Pentex-like forces, Black Spiral Dancers operating from a nearby hive, and local NPC anarch vampires (a feud is brewing and only getting worse...). Games will also feature more seemingly mundane threats: gangs, psychotic killers, and other humans who exemplify the sickness the Wyrm has wrought. Players will largely find the game to be what their characters make it. Storytellers are primarily interested in creating games centered around PC-initiated issues. The players will be aware of the consequences of their actions, for better and for worse.
